A Freak book review: The BrainEater’s Bible

How do you describe a book that is not only fun, but also outstanding in the information it gives as insight to a zombie’s thought process, needs, wants… “wait a second, let me stop before I give the whole story away!”
“The Brain Eaters Bible” can be compared to Max Brook’s “The Zombie Survival Guide” Just as a person would compare “Night of the Living Dead” to “Return of the Living Dead.” They are such similar stories but are seen through different prisms.
The book is narrated/authored by J.D. McGhoul. He explains what a “brain eating” zombie is, while relating his own personal discovery sharing excerpts from his journal. Witten by an existing zombie, it is meant as a way of teaching a new “self-aware” zombie how to enjoy their new undead life. The excerpts from the diary alone are worth the read, but I won’t spoil those stories right now. I would prefer to talk as a “freshie” and impart what you may be able to learn should you come across this book.
Other highlights include not just a zombie’s anatomy(ever hear of a zombie re-attaching a severed arm?) but also preferred dining styles. When I say dining styles, Mr. McGhoul describes EVERY part of the brain like a fine wine list. There is also zombie self-defense (yes, these zombies have a Chuck Norris defense class) and also hunting tips to find the best way of finding some prey. (aka you!)
For any zombie fan this is a must buy book. I have seen some promo videos for the book, but this would be a great source for either a T.V. show or a video game with the player learning how to be a zombie. If you think this is a fluff book that has been filling the market lately, I will personally laugh as a “High-Functioning Zombie” noms on your grey matter.

Zombie Movie Club #6: Braindead(US title: Dead Alive)

Forget your “Rings” or Elves, this is one of Peter Jackson’s early films and I would love to see him go back to this type of story telling.
This film is at the core “Psycho” meets “Evil Dead 2″ with a little “Troma” thrown in for the effects. The crazy part is, it works. The story follows Lionel Cosgrove who lives with an over domineering “Mum”. Lionel tries to engage in a date with the local shop girl at the zoo. “Mum” is following and gets bitten by a “Sumatran Rat-Monkey”
This is were the story gets fun. In trying to care for “Mum”, more people become infected, and the story turns into a runaway train from there. The comedy, the gore, the zombie (cough cough) loving, the undead baby…….
(Hold up on the basic review for a quick note: I try not to put to much detail into my reviews. I want to give a little tease or poke to make people want to see the movie, or see it again so they would want to talk about it. I have to comment on this “Undead Baby”! Forget the remake of “Dawn of the Dead,” this movie created the idea, and made it a bad acid trip. I know the thing is only a cheesy puppet, it is also a character that not only helps the story but gives some of the best visual jokes)
This is a great watch, but our normal questions would not apply for this film(Nobody does anything right in this film). So just give your opinion of the “Zombie Film” section of the forum.
Zombie Film Club # 5: Return of the Living Dead

It is time to resurrect the Zombie film Club, and I would like to do it with one of my favorite titles.
Return of the Living Dead is one of my favorite undead films for a few reasons.
1. It acknowledges the original Night of the Living Dead a being a movie about real events, but in order to avoid problems with government, some of the facts were changed
2. It is the first time we see zombies that are not only fast, but intelligent.
3. There is an actual reason why the zombies in the film attack people, and eat brains. The concept that this is done to prevent the pain of feeling their bodies rot was a pure stroke of genius.
4. Most importantly, the film is fiercely funny, without becoming campy.
All these things make the film an outstanding piece of cinema. If you have not seen the movie as of yet, “Shame on you!!!”

In a world of the “Undead” I would like to know that I trust strong and creative people, but trust is what makes us friends and family. With that being said, I trust my friend “MetalMum” to help moderate and grow our forum.
She has be there to keep a robot in check with cookies, and keep everyone on topic.
When I gave “MetalMum” the news, she said this to me:

The MMOZed community come a long way since its humble beginnings last year and to keep up with our thriving community I have asked one of our oldest members to help me moderate the forums. Give a warm welcome to Suburban Freak the new sheriff in town. Suburban Freak had these word to share with the community.I am more then glad to help the forums as much as I can. Though I may not join in as many discussions, I will still make sure if I come across any good zombie information in film or other media it will be shared.This site is a great place for people that are excited about zombie games or zombies in general, can come together and spit some ideas and opinions. At the end of the day we are creating our own community. So let’s keep the community growing and healthy.Side note -If you dont keep the community growing and healthy, you can end up in a cage (see Dantron) or just get shot in the head.haha I’m just kidding….….or am I?

Undead Labs has just published a press release announcing their partnership with Microsoft. Many of our unanswered questions have now finally been answered.

- Perspective: Third Person

The few, scattered survivors must band together, rebuilding civilization in a third-person action game packed with sweet guns, fast cars, hand-to-hand combat, and copious amounts of zombie gore. Players choose where to make their stand, designing and fortifying their settlements, performing daring raids for valuable stores of food and ammunition, and rescuing other playable survivors. The open world develops in real-time, shaped by player actions, with content determined by their choices and the ever-increasing zombie threat.
Some other big news is that Undead Labs will be making two game: Class3 and Class4. Class3 will be a Xbox Arcade game with the boundaries of an Xbox Arcade game while Class4 will be a future title with a much larger scope.
For those of you wondering what does Class3 and Class4 mean?

Class 3
…Zombies will number in the thousands, encompassing an area of serveral hundred miles…those living within the infested area will be at the mercy of the undead. Isolated abandoned, and sorrounded by ghouls, they will have only themselves to depend on.
Class 4
…zombie hordes grew large enough to dominate the entire planet..humanity is driven to the brink of extinction.

Achievements/Trophy Suggestions

Achievements (Xbox, Steam, WoW) or Trophies (PlayStation) tend to give an incentive for players to play a game in a way they would not normally play it and these micro goals also tend to extend the life of a game. It is a safe bet that there will be some sort of achievements in the upcoming MMO-Z, since Undead Labs is focused on consoles . This week I would like the community to come up with some Achievements for Undead Labs’ upcoming zombie survival MMO. Also what kind of achievements do you not want to see in the game and what makes a good achievement?
